Mark Mason, author of WHAT MEN THINK ABOUT SEX, now explores the thoroughly modern notion of ‘working at a relationship’.
Sam offers his hand in marriage to Kirsty, the girl of his dreams – she doesn’t say yes, but then she doesn’t say no. She says that she will marry him if he proves he really loves her, and is capable of handling change enough for her to feel confident about spending the rest of her life with him.
And so, in a modern version of a romantic quest, she has devised a points system. Points for good things, points for bad things – but here’s The Catch – Sam has to work out for himself what will win and lose him points. In desperation Sam convenes a ‘War Cabinet’ which meets each week in the pub to discuss and advise on his progress, or lack of it. But as Kirsty’s demands become ever more outrageous, Sam soon begins to wonder whether winning the hand of the beautiful Kirsty is a challenge really worth battling for.
