About Marathon Man

High heels, of course, are now out of the question
- DAILY MAIL

At times, he has taken on the character of a Pied Piper in his run
- GUARDIAN

What made him think he could do it? And why would anyone want to?

In 2009, Eddie Izzard ran 43 marathons (1110 miles) for Sport Relief, running around almost the whole United Kingdom. He raised over £200,000 for charity, and was joined along the way by many of his fans. He travelled with his tour manager, a sports therapist and an ice-cream van, which dispensed free ice-creams to supporters as he ran.

In MARATHON MAN, we will find out what really happened. Starting with his decision to approach Sport Relief and the experts who told him he couldn’t do it, we will follow Eddie round the country, as he revisits places from his past, and encounters some entirely new ones. This is a unique tour of the UK by one of the country’s greatest comedians.

About the Author

Eddie Izzard has been voted the third greatest comedian of all time in the UK. He takes ideas and situations and extrapolates them into bizzare tangential, absurd, and surreal comic narratives. He is the first to admit that he gets well paid for talking total bollocks. The good pay is because unlike the bollocks most of us talk, it’s funny.
