Ellie May is an incredibly famous film star! You’ll remember her from the smash hit films A Blind Birdwatcher, Lost In The Post and The Fat Unicorn 2. You’ll know, of course, all about her choice of shoes, her favourite bags, her taste in nail polish. What you might not know is that Ellie May Would Like to be Taken Seriously for a Change. She’s been nominated for a SAUSAGE award (Giggle magazine’s Seriously And Unbelievably Stunningly Amazingest Girl Ever!) and she’s determined to beat her rival, Cassie Craven.
Cassie’s been saving the dolphins - so Ellie May’s delighted when she gets a letter from a girl who’s campaigning to save her local nature reserve. But Ellie May doesn’t really know how to do much beyond shopping and signing autographs. Still, at least there’s no danger that she could actually make things worse… is there?
Before she started writing books, Marianne was an actress. Not the incredibly famous sort, though. After leaving Cambridge University she appeared in a few TV shows and did a bit of comedy on Radio 4. She has been in one film, in which she managed to forget both her lines.
Since then, Marianne has written for The Story Of Tracy Beaker, introduced America’s Next Top Model and been the voice of a yogurt. She lives in London, and spends her spare time eating cheese and hassling other people’s dogs.
