About Can I Just Ask?

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a doctor is never off duty.

In his first book, the Harley Street physician, Dr Christian Jessen, takes a look at the ordinary and extraordinary questions that many of us would be too nervous to ask in a surgery, but are more than happy to drop into the conversation in a taxi, at a wedding, or on a train. Whether it’s a brother, mother, friend, neighbour, ex-partner or stranger, it seems natural for people to seek advice from a doctor whenever and wherever they like out of surgery hours. CAN I JUST ASK…? contains the answers to questions such as:

  • Should you ‘starve a fever and feed a cold’?
  • Is it true that you can‟t get pregnant if you are breastfeeding?
  • Does reading in the dim light really damage your eyes?
  • Why does asparagus make your pee smell?
  • What are man boobs, and can you get rid of them?

From the silly to the serious, CAN I JUST ASK…? tackles questions about children’s health, contraception and fertility, psychological issues, medicines and drugs, bowels and bottoms and much, much more! In Dr Christian’s typical straight-talking style it also debunks some of our long held medical myths along the way. It is the perfect mass-market reference book for today’s trivia-hungry public.
