Logicomix is in Time Magazine’s Top Ten

LOGICOMIX has been named in Time magazine’s Top Ten of Everything 2009 as one of the year’s best non-fiction titles, and is on New Scientist’s Holiday Wishlist. It seems that the book is fast becoming a classic of the graphic genre, and as Time explains, ‘Apostolos Doxiadis’ charming dialogue and Alecos Papadatos’ simple, affecting drawings give the story an immediacy and approachability that nothing else could.’

imageThe book follows the life of philosopher and mathemetician Bertrand Russell, and the lifelong obsession with logic that drove him to the brink of madness. The project took five years to complete, and also tells the story of the authors and illustrators who worked to make it happen. You can hear Apostolos Doxiadis speak about the process of turning Russell’s life into a graphic novel on this week’s Guardian book blog.

In the USA, the Washington Post saw LOGICOMIX as an ‘engaging, energetic work that makes big ideas accessible without dumbing them down.’

Update 11/12/09: Now in its fifth consecutive week as the #1 Graphic Hardback on the New York Times bestseller list, and has been on the bestseller list for ten weeks!
