Just a week after its release in Holland, LOGICOMIX has established itself on the Volkskrant best-seller list. Already a bestseller in Greece, Apostolos Doxiadis and Christos Papadimitriou’s graphic novel, based on the life of Bertrand Russell, is due to be published by Bloomsbury in September.
Through love and hate, peace and war, Russell persists in the dogged mission that threatens to claim both his career and his personal happiness, finally driving him to the brink of insanity. The story is at the same time an historical novel and an accessible explication of some of the biggest ideas of mathematics and modern philosophy. With rich characterisations and expressive, atmospheric artwork, LOGICOMIX is a story about he conflict between an ideal rationality and the unchanging, flawed fabric of rationality.
Apostolos himself will be appearing at London’s Comica Festival at the ICA in November.
