Debut Novel by Ali Shaw sold to Atlantic

Ali Shaw’s fantastic debut novel, THE GIRL WITH GLASS FEET, has been bought at auction by Sarah Castleton of Atlantic.

A literary novel appealing to the same readerships as Haruki Murikami and Susannah Clarke, THE GIRL WITH GLASS FEET explores the tender relationship between self-confessed coward Midas Crook and Ida Maclaird, whose body is slowly turning into glass.

Frightened and in search of answers, Ida has returned to the place where the metamorphosis began, a snowbound archipelago far from the mainland where she lives. Alongside Midas she seeks out the elusive Henry Fuwa, a man who seems to understand the science behind the island’s extraordinary phenomena – but it may be that the transformation can never be stopped.

Ali Shaw was born in 1982 and currently lives and works in Oxford. Atlantic plan to publish THE GIRL WITH GLASS FEET in Spring 2009, and Ali is currently working on the early stages of his second novel.
