The shortlist for this year’s Costa Book Awards was announced last night on Radio 4’s Front Row, and Conville and Walsh are delighted to congratulate two of our clients.
Poet Ruth Padel has been nominated for her collection DARWIN, a biography of her great-great-grandfather, which she wrote to mark the bicentenary of his birth. She is joined by debut author Ali Shaw, who is shortlisted for the First Novel Award. Shaw’s THE GIRL WITH GLASS FEET has already been longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, and won the British Book Design and Production Award in the literature category this year.
The Costa Book Awards, which started life in 1971 as the Whitbread Literary Awards, is one of the most prestigious literary prizes in the country, with a prize fund totalling £50,000. Past winners include Ted Hughes and Philip Pullman.
