Michael Smith was born in 1976 in London, and grew up in Hartlepool. After graduating from University College London and the Slade School of Fine Art, he published a series of pamphlets through Borders bookshop, which later comprised his first novel, THE GIRO PLAYBOY.
Michael writes extensively for the press, and has contributed features to The Observer newspaper, The Idler and Zembla, among others, as well as regular columns for magazines like Dazed & Confused and Good For Nothing. He has also appeared on numerous BBC radio stations, notably BBC Radio 3, Radio 4, BBC London, and BBC Tees.
