About Christopher Stocks

Christopher Stocks is the author of FORGOTTEN FRUITS, Monty Don’s favourite book of 2008, which was shortlisted for Food Book of the Year by the Guild of Food Writers, as well as for the 2008 André Simon Award. Since 2003 he has lived on the Isle of Portland, overlooking Chesil Beach and the Dorset coast. He collects pebbles, perfume and old Shell Guides, has won a Bridport Prize for his poetry, and shares a birthday with, among others, Donny Osmond and John Malkovich.

A journalist and copywriter, Christopher was a contributing editor in the glory days of Wallpaper magazine, reporting on everything from Uruguayan beach resorts to an underground submarine base off the coast of Sweden. More recently he edited a magazine for the Dorchester Hotel and wrote a weekly gardening column for the Independent On Sunday, as well as writing for Modern Painters, ES magazine, the Telegraph and the National Trust. He continues to be a regular contributor to Gardens Illustrated and Patek Philippe magazine.

Christopher’s next book, a social history of British forests, was commissioned by Random House in 2009 and is due for delivery in August 2011.
